CITES published the actualized sturgeon and caviar quotas for 2011 - 2012
On November 15th, CITES presented the revised quotas for March 1st, 2011 through February 29th, 2012. No quotas were issued for wild fish and products of wild fish while quotas were provided only for fertilized eggs (Romania), as well as caviar and meat (Iran) of farmed origin.

Traffic Report on illegal caviar trade in Bulgaria and Romania
A new report by the international wildlife trade monitoring network TRAFFIC was launched by the WWF in BUDAPEST, Hungary, November 15, 2011. Persistent illegal trade in caviar involving Bulgaria and Romania is undermining the survival of the endangered sturgeons in the Danube River Basin.
